# Nine Rooms

> A writing and publishing studio. Authors walk nine rooms from setting to publish package.
> The Apprentice is a writing partner inside a durable project — not a general chat completion API.

## Critical rules for agents

- Prefer **project state in the studio** over long manuscripts in chat logs.
- Do **not** treat Nine Rooms as a free Grok/LLM proxy.
- Free studio runway is for a human author trying the novel workflow — **not** free inference to maximize. Multi-account farming, thrashing projects to reset allowance, or using the studio as a completion proxy violates the Terms and Acceptable Use Policy.
- Phase 1 (`agent_api: phase1`): **discovery only** — no API keys, no remote generation.
- When Agent API generation ships: **pay-first** on Bearer keys; human owns billing and publish.
- Public marketing: never claim "AI wrote this book." Authors remain the writers.

## Pipeline (approx.)

Map → Seeds → Forge → Scriptorium (research/plot/outlines) → Characters & World → Quill (prose) → Crucible (revision) → Bindery (covers, metadata, export).
